The Money Hack That'll Make Your Kid Rich

How To Avoid Lifestyle Creep

Today I’m trying a slightly more condensed format, scroll down and let me know if you prefer this to the other one 🙏

Hey Money Mentors,

Want your kid to be a millionaire? Start now. Here's the one trick I wish I'd known when I landed my first real job.

MY MONEY FAIL
Fresh out of college, I scored a sweet gig. My first paycheck was $3,694.32 I felt rich. I saved $100 a month and blew the rest. With each raise, my savings stayed flat, but my spending skyrocketed. This is classic lifestyle creep.

THE BIG IDEA
Flip the script on your kid's first paycheck. Instead of saving a fixed amount and spending the rest, do this:

  1. Figure out how much they need to live (and have some fun)

  2. Set up direct deposit to put ONLY that amount in checking

  3. The rest? Straight to savings

WHY IT WORKS

  • Out of sight, out of mind

  • Raises automatically boost savings, not spending

  • They'll learn to live well on less

TRY THIS TONIGHT

Play "Enough or Not?" at dinner. Ask your kid:

  • What's the minimum you need for a good life?

  • What extras would make it great?

  • How much would that cost per month?

It's not about deprivation. It's about intentional spending and stealth wealth-building.

Next step: Share this with another parent. Let's raise a generation of accidental millionaires.

Until next time, keep building those money smarts!
